............The Lott is too long for this action...A .411 or .416 on the 375 Ruger case would be nice ...

.If it can,t be grown , its gotta be mined ....

Ruger mfg.'s a longer action for the 375HH, 416Rigby, and the 458Lott and it is offered in the form of Ruger Safari Magnum or RSM rifle. Entirely different rifle than the Hawkeye and some twice the price as well.

while not a factory, the lott is NOT too long for this action, nor is the 375 ... been done too many times without a load of $$$
.. i am surprised the 458 win isn't a factory deal

would be wicked in a 458 or 470,,, or even 500 AR

opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club

Someone at the Hornady Booth at Dallas hinted that a 416 would be coming in a year or so. Maybe something will turn up at a future shot show.

Well, believe some years ago they, Ruger that is, did offer the "std" action in 458 Win Mag with a barrel about as big as your arm, push feed, but with claw extractor. Had one and it shot ok, but just always seemed a bit awkward in handling to me.
You are certainly correct in being able to convert current offering, Hawkeye, to other calibers for if you do it with military surplus 98's, just imagine what you could do with the modern version of same in the form of a Ruger 77 action!!

The Alaskan looks quite rugged and affordable.....even for a South African. The quote I was given was cheaper than the CZ.

The 375 Ruger is unfortunately not a stopper and I predict will not be really popular in SA.

I would have liked to have it in lott or one of the larger .458 calibers but doing a conversion will propably cost the same as the Safari Magnum. Frowner
