Does anyone know if it is possible, and if so, worth the trouble to rethread a Ruger 77 barrel for a Mauser 98? Figure it never hurts to ask.

An excersize in futility. You will need to cut off about 5/8" from the chamber end and start all over. Ruger barrels are probably not the best second rate barrel out there.
