Whats the largest chambering one can have in the Ruger no. 1 or that any of you people know of and still have enough meat around the chamber for safety ? .577 .600 ?

Probably too big. I wouldn't go that big. 15/16" shank diameter. Do the hoop and radial stress calculations to see what's the max.

Here's my 600JDJ on my #1. It's a 577 Nitro blown out to 620 cal.

I'm running these 900gr Woodleighs at around 1950 fps. That's plenty Smiler

Thanks Tom,
I'm toying with selling this big guy. If you're interested, let's discuss. It is a complete rebarrel job with much other mods. SSK built it for me in 04. I have a lot of load data, hunting data, and cast bullets data. It's a really fun gun and easy to carry hunting & will REALLY "deliver the mail" BOOM
