I'd like to put a Pachmayr Decelerator pad on my new Ruger RSM in .416 Rigby. bewildered

The factory pad will work fine, but I have a 6'2" frame and could use a bit more LOP ( Info in the DETAILS -that one is NOT mine, BTW, I am blessed with BEAUTIFUL wood on mine! ) and a softer push wouldn't mind me either.

I'd love to have a PRE-FIT, where I just remove and replace and the contour "looks" factory. Any ideas friends? BTW, I did look on their website, but they didn't specify the Safari Magnum. sofa

Limbsave might be an option. They have a footprinf chart on their website you can print out and check against your pad.

I didn't think about Limbsaver, I'll look there right now. Thanks. thumb

I'd just shoot Pachmayr an email about it and see if their standard wood stock M77 MkII ruger pad will fit on the RSM. I'm actually wondering the same thing myself as I just got my Lott RSM. Maybe I'll drop them a line as well Big Grin

I have the grindable one so I've seen both brown and black. I'm not too fond of the ribs on the sides of the pre-fit but they sure work well.

You don't need to butcher the stock to install a recoil pad.

Take the gun to a good smith and he will have all the tools to do it right.
The only reason there would be to cut any wood would be to make sure the pad is perpindicular to the bore.

Yeah, I agree. The ribs looks very cheesy!!! Roll Eyes

I emailed Pachmayr personally with all the measurements of the RSM's pad, so hopefully they will respond soon. thumb

Used Pachmayr #01704 and then Limbsaver #10001 pads on my 416 RSM.

Fit of Limbsaver better, no wood overhang (Pachmayr had some). In both cases, one new hole has top be drilled.

Recoil abatement, advantage for the Limbsaver.

Looks, Pachmayr.

Both increased the pull to 13-7/8 (from 13-1/2) inch total.

Either is a vast improvement over the red hockey puck.

So, even though the Limbasver fit a bit better the Decelerator still looked better overall? Those funky ribs might look weird, I can imagine. Do you have a pic of it installed on your rifle? How poor was the fit of the Decelerator? Thanks!

You must have an earlier RSM than I do. My RSM has a BLACK hockey puck. Wink

Pic no problem. Just PM your email and I'll send one over.

On MY stock, contour of the Pachmayr pad (viewed straight on), wood overhang at the toe (6:00) and at 10:00 and 2:00. The Limbsaver was virtually a perfect match.
