Is it a nice wood and will it stand up to a 416 Rigby?
There's a blank for sale locally.

There are two classes of maple , hard and soft. The hard maple is certainly good for the 416. I'm not sure of the soft like the highly figured big leaf maple. ..BTW I just looked at the www.czusa.com site and see that they have maple stocks , at least in 22 Hornet that I was interested in. I've always liked light colored stocks.

Thanks el jeffe & mete! I wasn't sure to get it or not, as it is sight unseen. I now know it's too light of color for my taste.
