Thanks, Kudude. The question for which Kudude provided the answer is: Where is the cannelure for the new Hornaday 480gr solid which is designed for the 450NE. The follow on is: Is it suitably rearward for optimal use in the 458wm or is so far forward that it is not? I will measure Woodleigh 480's and 500's for comparison. My experience with the Woodleighs is that the more rearward position of the cannelure in the 500's makes them easier to load for in the 458wm while the 480's lead to powder compaction issues before the 500's and provide no velocity advantage without compaction. the winmag and the lott are designed for a .800 longer bullet than case .. lott case is 2.8 +.8 =3.6 oal ... the 480 will NOT give the winmag more powder room, dang it and the bullet measurements are important for use in quickload, as a weight can be several lengths. I talked to hornady about the DGS and DGX, and they are designed for the 450 NE, and they thought about adding a second groove, but that wouldn't work well... I'll be trying them in the 458AR (dgx) in couple weeks jeffe opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round?
