it seems that the snow melted and water got inside the tube and well shit its broke allright, but good thing is that the 60€ red dot lasted 6years!!! it eaven has the original battery still inside and it works.

iam thingking about a scope or go back to the steels but what to do coz iam on a budget.

Your stock can be repaired and will be stronger than new is done correctly.

Bummer,... I have to ask. If the stock is busted and scope is busted and moose got away, what exactly was the GOOD news?

I would suggest you to put a GOOD red dot scope on such a powerful rifle, like an Aimpoint, for instance.

Isn't that a wrist pin already in the stock?

I believe Jeffe means a rod running from just under the grip cap at an angle towards the action tang. This is done to strengthen the wrist.

The bolt that you seen in the picture is a regular cross-bolt located at the rear of the action inletting.

What caliber is it now? I have the Talley QR rings on my CZ 550, but I try to shoot at least every other trip to the range with the iron sights as well. The scope goes back on to almost exact point of aim. Sorry to hear about your rifle, but I'm real jealous about your moose tags!

Happy Thanksgiving,

Chuck

Check on ebay for a replacement McMillan stock....they have specific models for Sakos. Much more robust, and will withstand cold better than wood.

I have a CZ550 in 458WM and cracked the original stock after about a year of shooting it and CZ replaced the stock under warranty.

Fix that stock, and get an aimpoint red dot.http://www.aimpoint.com/products/aimpoint_product_lines/aimpoint_micro_t-1

This is the one I use on my lott, it has a five year battery life and has withstood close to a thousand full house loads,it will never let you down or lose zero. Good luck with that next moose!

I had the same crack forward of the mag on a hogsback stock with single crossbolt. Epoxied the crack and added two bronze threaded rods set in black epoxy, drilled oversize at the surface to create fake ebony plugs.

Though it's not premium work I believe it turned out ok for a hunting rifle.
Has held fine for a hundred or so rounds. Good luck getting yours sorted out.
