Agree with Ruger458No1....load it to the 22-2300 fps level and have a great rifle...that is what I do with mine! Let me see...500 gr .458 bullet at 2300 fps in a 460 Weatherby and everyone doesn't like it......500 gr. .458 bullet at 2300 in a .458 Lott and that is the greatest thing since sliced bread! Confused
Mine is one a custom magnum Mauser type action if that makes a difference!

I'd load it down to 2200-2300fps and go buff hunting! (Of course, it would not be a Mark V Big Grin ).

...I would sell it and put the money on a hunt or building something else I wanted.

I already heve the .458, 500gr, @ 22-2300 covered with my Lott. (and it will use much less powder than a 460 Wby at the same level)

... probably keep it now that I own one for the third time. Wink Just for kicks.

BTW, the only way to load one is with 500 grainers at 2500 fps, if you must use a 500 grainer, but the peerless load:

450 grainers at 2700 fps: North Fork SP/FP/CP, or Barnes TSX, or GSC FN and HV.

Weatherby you loadin' 450 or 500 grainers, you be usin' H4350 Extreme, yuh hee-uh? Wink

What's wrong with the .460? Mine is on a Brno 602, built in the late 80's. My load is 500gr Hornady with 112gr of H4350 giving 2370fps.

If I had a 460 WBY I would...

1) Amuse myself with the sneers I get when I pull it out.
2) Humbly insist that number of rounds out the muzzle of the same caliber bore is much more highly correlated with good shot placement than the case size at the recoil end of the tube.
3) Proceed to bag all of the Big 5 on the same trip with it.
