| There are alot of variances in Lott chambers, so you should be for-warned before using others data.
In my previous Lott, the best loads were:
350 gr speer hot core, seated to the rear canalure, 76.0 gr Reloader 7, 2400 fps. 350 gr hornady rn, 80.0 gr Reloader 7, 2525 fps 500 gr hornady rn sp, 87.0 gr Reloader 15, 2280 fps
I did try RL 7 w/ a 450 gr X bullet, and got very high pressures at only 2200 fps, as I recall. It seems to me that RL 7 is too fast of a powder for bullets heavier than 400gr.
I still need to get brass and dies for my new Lott, as well as getting the chrony fixed. |

| 80 grs. 4320 with a 500 br Hornady 2200fps. Have loaded hotter, but settled on this load. Similar to the old nitro-express velocity with 500 gr. bullets. |

| As Paul H said , there are differences in Lott chamber specs. Is there any "standard" chamber length or standard freebore? I was after a Lott reamer with freebore on the shorter side as I will not be loading for absolute top velocity and would be shooting a "Lott" more lighter 350gn bullets than full power 500gn loads. What is the standard freebore length? |

| Congratulations Mike!!! It looks you are sold on those CZ rifles. You can also creat some "reduced" loads using H4350 and H4831. Please tell us more about your new CZ 458 Lott when you have it. Thanks. Quote:
Hi Gentlemen, I ordered a CZ 458 Lott with the upgraded wood today. It is do in in about three weeks. I would like to have some ammo ready when it arrives. Does anybody have a favorite load? I've had good luck with reloader powder on my other big bores. Do any of you use RL in your Lott? And does anybody know where I can obtain some brass? Midway has it on back order at the present time. Thanks for your time & info. Regards Mike

| My chronograph and rifles always found IMR-4320 to be the only powder for the .458 Lott if you want all it has...My load was 84 grs. in all but one rifle and that gave me 2350 FPS or better, depending on barrel length..That was almost a max load in my rifles and may be max in others....Start out at 82 grs. and work up...Recoil will probably be a deciding factor before pressure... |
