High B.C. 12 Ga. Bullet?

boom stickHigh B.C. 12 Ga. Bullet?
Is there a high ballistic coefficient 12 Ga. bullet and not slug??? Yes there are finned sabot and tipped but a REAL ogive .729 rifle bullet???
Is there a demand for it?
I was thinking of a scaled up 50 BMG bullet but to .729 for 12 gauge shotguns ect.
Kinda like a scaled up barnes 750 grainer but more like over 1,000 grains.
With the ever increasing wildcats I thought this could be cool.
On a full length BMG case or the 12GFH it could be interesting.
match 12GA bullets... gotta love it.
what should they be called?
Bubba ICBM's?
12 GA. Subsonic?
12 GA. Tactical?
12 GA. Long ranger?

GrandpasezFor a 12ga bullet to have the same BC
as a 750gr 50cal spitzer streamlined,
pointed, boat-tail, it would have to be
1800+ grains. Then recoil is problem as well
as getting speeds up.Now a decent pointed
bullet can be had at about a 1000 grs like
the second one in pic, I made.Ed

boom stickWell maybe some kind of hollow base, bore rider banded ECT bullet to keep the weight as low as possible and the B.C. High...
Just some tweaks to extend the range and accuracy.
O.K. Bulletsmiths... What can be done within reason. Any design submissions???

prof242Boomie: In actuality, I like the first bullet in Ed's pic. It is a 12ga and not a super varminter. That first bullet, with a cup point as in Andre's bullet, and maybe a concave base, would provide quite a stopper at more than 100 yds.

boom stickI was thinking for ranges out to 300 yards and beyond without expansion...

Robgunbuilderfritz454 made a bunch of beautiful .729 bore riders for me 4 years ago for the 12GaFH. They weighed 2000 gr. Perhaps he can post some pics.-Rob

boom stickThanks Rob...
How bout it fritz?
If they were maybe 1400 grains that might be a happy middle ground...

GeorgeSboom stick,
If this is about shotguns, it's got to go to 'Shotgunning'. This is the 'Rifles' section.

GrandpasezThe brass ones in pic are all fritz454s
I reshaped 2 and 3. Number two is a 1000
gr or 640 gr with hollow base. At a 1000gr
in 12GA FH, it can be shot fast enough to
be a 1/4 mile bullet. Its shape and heavy
weight at 1000gr makes for a BC like a
180gr 30cal with a semi-spitzer point.Ed
