I was at an industry event last week and one of the guys said he was building a 450 Rigby on a BBK action. I was curious, what type of action is that?? I'm guessing it is a mauser. Go Duke!!

Les bauska designed this. It is close to a CZ 550 in size, and can use the stock. ROUGH AS A COB is normal for them. Olypmic arms bought the rights, and made some, then I believe it went to south Korea. It is like, but lesser than the CZ 550 magnum and 702 magnum actions opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? Why would you build a 450 Rigby on this action?? Sounds like there are much better actions out there. He made it sound like it was a really nice action, but this guy is pretty new to hunting, and has more money than sense. Go Duke!!

I think I had one in our shop a couple of years ago. It was bad knock-off of a CZ 550 and was chambered in a .500 Wells IIRC. The only markings on it were "SIP JA", Korea. I Googled SIP JA, and they are, or were, an arms manufacturer over there.

Until I had one, I would have opined that yes it was okay. Today? Hell no opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? Case Drawings 416-458-470AR and 500AR. 476AR, http://www.weaponsmith.com

There were two models of BBK02 actions. Mine had a pretty good polish on it from the factory and was purchased, I think, in the early to mid 80's. It was A LOT nicer than the one pictured in this thread. I am not sure, but I think it was Westley Richards that used this earlier action for a few guns. Mine has a two digit serial number.

I have my one of 585HE in the BBK I have. Got it from Jeffe. It has 4 digit number. The way the bolt shroud locked into back of the bolt was worn. It twist locked in instead of being threaded in and the wear didn't allow for firing pin to protrude out the front of the bolt. So I fixed it so the shroud was locked in ok and adjusted the firing pin forward. Nice action with Winnie type safety, for my long 585HE.Ed MZEE WA SIKU

I had an 'In the White' action for a while. I had planned to use it to build something big, but it was just too sloppy to want to dump any money into. Interstingly, I was able to sell it for enough money to buy a suitable CZ 550 action of the same size, but MUCH, MUCH better quality. Sure... the wing safety on the Bauska BBK action was a nice idea, but execution on the whole thing was just garbage. It was quite possibly the sloppiest action I've ever seen. Fit/finish/tolerances reminded me of a century old, worn out levergun. Nothing precision about it.
