Jeff ,,,will a 458 AR work in my worn out 458 win mag?? It has a 19.5 " Shilen stainless barrel.....It meets and sometimes beats load data and factory velocities.. I was doubtful until I looked at the photos you posted on the 375 Ruger thread........It is a factory Ruger that began life as a 338 Win mag. ,.,., How much are dies.... will 3 fit in the ruger magizine ???It should do 2900 fps w/ 300 barnes XFB moly. if it has more capacity, then it should burn around 90 grains of 4198 zoom zoom... Ive got to do something with it , the rifle. And it has served me so well, I hate the idea of takeing the barrel off it .. Boom Stick and RIP,s 395,s are apealing but I need something 458.... Thanks.. gumboot..

yes, it will clean it up... the 458 will cut an entirely new chamber, throat, leade, etc.
if it won't hold 3, it should be a 15 mins exercise to get it to, I have no CLUE on how fast it will drive 300gr bullets .. 2900? from that short a barrel? WOW

I am not trying to be a smartass, but how did you wear the chamber out and the rifling is still good enough to spend rechamber funds on it?

EVERY round that goes with me when I have a rifle with me first goes in and out of the chamber and the bolt fully closes over it......This rifle has shot over 2000 rounds of full power ammo and some blastin ammo also...... There may have even been a few high pressure loads go down its throat..... As its cold and wet most of the time The rifle doesn,t get over heated and so the rifleing is in good shape and the throat is fine......I have never tumbled any brass.. and it gets pretty crusty.. but I fingernail polish all my hunting ammo primers and so it goes bang even after going thru the washer and for a swim.......The area just foward of the belt is getting a little big.....When you work out doors for a long time in a forest that gets over 100 " of rain a year and the rifle is with you most all the time .The ammo has liquid water on it often when it gets fired . Water doesn,t compress and so it changes chamber deminsions some which can increase chamber pressure ........Sometimes there is some water in the bore also....I tape the muzzel religously but it builds condisation also... But 12 years of use and abuse in a salt water environment wear things out.....The 1-4 x leupold scope that has been on it most, won,t hold zero anymore either.........And the origenal Zytel nylon canoe paddel stock is even a little tired and they are almost indestructable....... Do you do the work Jeff or who ?? Thank you ,, gumboot,

P. S. Mayby only 2850 fps .. but 2900 would be relly cool !!!!!!!!! I,ve never been able to figure out how to make it a 460 Whby and so the AR is probably the best thing....
