I'm a new guy to AR,been a hunter and a shooter since age 6 and have been on this good earth for 53 years now. I own and have shot then all, from the .17 Remingon to the .50 BMG. My favorites now are an old Browning Safari grade .458 and a CZ 550 in the classic .416 Rigby. Both rifles see use in feral cattle hunts. Hopefully this bad economy will stabilize and I will commit to buying my next big bore---a Heym 88b Jumbo double rifle in .500 NE. My friends always kid me about my love for the big bores but will always call when they have some ornery feral bull that lives in heavy bush and has been hunted before! ironfist

Yes, welcome to the club! I have a CZ in 416 Rigby too, do you use cast bullets? That cattle hunting business in the thick bush there sounds like a great way to keep your hunting skills sharp. Rich Buff Killer

A friend of mine has a small ranch which borders a conservation area, most of the wild cattle have been feral for many generations and have regained a lot of their wild instincts. We try to control the wild population to prevent them from breeding with his cattle. It's heavy bush/jungle were they hide so it's quite a challenge to hunt them, went to heavy rifles to stop them in one shot so it's easy to recover the carcass. The .416 Rigby is a good choice loaded with 400 grain Hornady solids. A shoulder or spine shot will anchor the animal quickly. Have 5 boxes of Speer AGS carbide solids but I'm hoarding them like gold, saving them for an African hunt!
