Can a B/A be built with two separate BOLTS and
a take-down feature, that could fire one barrel in
500 AR, and the other barrel in 585 HE?

The exterior bbl diameter on the 500 to be identical
to the 585 HE, so the same one piece synthetic stock
can be used.

Correct bullet placement, combined with the required depth of bullet penetration, results in an anchored animal...

Yes certainly it can be. Would likely need a different replaceable mag box between the two

Please, can you say why the larger mag can't handle both cart's?

The geometry will be different enough that you may have feeding issues between the rounds

If using a PH the mag box for 505 Gibbs they have works
with the 585HE, but a smaller case would need a narrower
box. For that you'd be easiest to have box with shims
attached or two separate stocks.

On other narrower actions I have a simple single stack that
center feeds 585HEs and you could change with regular style
for narrower cases.I have couple good ones in Hogue
recoil reducer stocks going together in 585 now.
And couple more in next few weeks.Ed

Your idea sounds like it may work. You can change mag boxes with the bolt, but the biggest hurdle that I can think of is getting them both to feed through the same rail configuration and feed ramp shape. It may work just fine, but I would be betting in the other direction. It's not something I would want to tackle, thank you.

I am starting to move toward the idea of two separate rifles...

If the bolt face for the larger bolt head is used, the smaller may work with just a different extractor.

Make sure you contact Wayne to do the work if you go with the Montana PH action. He's a wizard with them.
