has anybody here ever put an electronic sight on a hard-kicker? Am jst curious, took an aimpoint off of my K-38 and wondered if they would be workable on a DGR?

I'm curious too, and I'm going to try it, but I would like to hear from others. I suspect big recoil will trash an electronic sight.

I have seen reddots on 470 NE... I had one a 550, and it didn't die, and they are fun to use

i have a millet 1x reddot on my ruger #1h tropical in .458win... when i bought it, i also was concerned with recoil destroying it, but i have shot maybe 60 rounds of factory loads... mainly 350 gr federal premium soft points... but also the 510 gr soft points, factory winchester loads, so far it has held its poit of aim...what i don't like is the HUGE red dot... it is the whole whitetail deer at 100 yds....at 50 yds, its about a 5" dot... the millet has various levels of brightness, from dim to pretty bright, on a click type knob....the ruger #1h's LOP is a little short for me, and i have a galco slip-on recoil pad on it.... shot standing, the recoil is a big push for me...less than my .375 h&h model 70...i'm planning on attending the drss shoot inn rochelle in january and will bring the rifle for all to shoot..

Any electronic sight that will stand the recoil of magnum pistols, will live easy on the biggest rifle you'd want to shoot from the shoulder! A pistol will blow the lenses out of a scope that will work fine on a 458 LOTT rifle.

The question I have about the red dot sights is, does the dot remain centered in the sight when adjusted, as a regular scope does?

i had to go get the gun out of the closet to look at it before i answered your question... the dot is centered in the scope, as long as your line of sight is square to the sight... it's just like looking through a 1x scope... no crosshairs, just a red dot... this millet has 11 different degrees of brightness, can't find the box or instructions, but the brightest setting is pretty bright...

Mac it is an optical illusion when the dot appears off centered..With an aimpoint you put the dot of and fire away..no matter where you see it...IT is how you are looking that makes it look off...

Had one of the original Aimpoints on a Ruger #1A in .358 Winchester, and many rounds and much handling etc, never lost zero or had any other issues. I think it's the only sight for Black Bears in the timber...


The rifle was a .357 Mag rechambered... and very accurate, one of the ones I never should have sold.

I have a BSA one mounted on the Ruger 45-70 converted to 450 3 1/4" nitro and so far after 50 rounds its still ticken along, and this thing eats scopes for breakfast
