CowboyCSThe Double Duece (2 Bore SxS)
My best guess is probably between 28 and 30 pounds, the single shot weighed 22 pounds 3 ounces when it was done. Or a little more than a pound heavier if you load it.

FjoldCowboy, what do you think the regulating load will be? What bullet and velocity are you aiming for?

SemperFiHunterCowboyCS,
I was so awed by your Jones Underlever project that I had to show it to my wife. She's not a hunter or a gun person, but she said: "Wow, that has to be the neatest gun I've ever seen."
I felt bad, because I wanted to slap her. But I refrained because I don't believe in slapping women, even if they deserve it.
But seriously, man, you are an artisan. I respect and admire your skills, and your attitude.
Good Luck with the SxS 2 Bore!
I'll be on the edge of my seat!
Thanks for the entertainment,
SFH

That's a long ways down the road and I haven't discussed final load with the customer yet. The barrels are twisted 1:48 and this rifle will primarily be set up to shoot cast lead round balls that weigh 3500grs. The turned Solids that S&H(Macifej) makes are also 3500grs, so in theory with a little bit of load adjustment it should be able to shoot either the cast balls or the solids to the same POI/POA.
The cases will handle up to 700grs FFg black powder, but I don't know even with the extra weight compared to the single shot if a guy can handle the kind of recoil it will produce.
As for FPS the data I have from the last two 2 Bores I've built tell me that at 500grs FFg with a roundball it's running 1250FPS average, and 500grs is the limit of what I can stand for recoil in a 24 pound rifle.
Semperfihunter,
Thank You, I'm glad you enjoyed the 2 Bore Jones Build. THis one won't be much different really, as I am going to basically use the same basis for the action, just wider.
Boom Stick,
Fame doesn't hold much interest for me, and as far as building many more 2 Bores, I actually don't plan to build that many because of the time it takes me to build them and the profit margins in them. I'm already on my second 2 Bore Muzzleloader and the SxS will make the 2nd cartridge 2 Bore.
