I have heard of "old style" and "new style" Hornady 500 grain .458 FMJ bullets......I just bought a rifle that came with several boxes of these bullets and was wondering what the deal is......the bullets I got with the rifle will stick to a magnet......old style or new style??? If they are the old style, what are they worth??? Thanks! | ||

From what I have heard, there is steel in the old style and then the ones that failed without steel, they are back to steel again. If a mahnet will work, it should be good projectiles. Correct me if I am wrong. I think the North Fork is the best around. If I did not reload, I sould have someone like Superior or others load NF. | |||

Hornady stopped making the steel jacketed solids about 5 years ago and replaced them with an "encapsulated" solid that turned out to be unsatisfactory.
