For a friend I am trying to find some good loads with VihtaVuori powders. Anybody have some load data with Vihta powders for the 460 Weatherby? _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.

Pierre, The irony is one of the loads is from this forum and I don't trust anything printed here, you must know that by now, and the other is from the Hornady handbook. I was hoping for some real life experience type information from new members. Once you see that "one of us" title you know credibility has been compromised. So, are you really going to print a second edition? Do people who already spent good money on the first edition get a discount? And while I'm at it, you've got a PM. _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.

Since I'm on a rant, why N550 or N160 and not something slower like N165? And with the French Vectan powders you would think that Tubal 8000 might be cited, but no. Don't these powders leave a lot of space in the case? _________________________________ AR, where the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history become the nattering nabobs of negativisim.

From a Norwegian reloading manual: 500gr Hornady, OAL 94,8mm, Federal 215 Primer 116gr N160 2376fps max: 120gr (compressed) 2455fps The usual warnings applies....

Wink, for what it's worth, I've checked with Quickload 3.3; the N160 seems to be a little slow, with compressed loads and probably a BIG blast at the muzzle, while the N550 seems to be a better choice: N550, Hornady RN IB 500 gr. COL 95.2 mm - starting 99 gr. max 106 gr. N550, Hornady RN 350 gr. COL 95.2 mm - starting 122 gr. max 129 gr. Of course that's only a guess. Hope it helps.

Actually, I think not! I my 460 I got much less blast from N160 than if I use Norma MRP, and Norma 204. Personally I havent tried the N550 in my 460wby, but my experience with the 500-series in other caibres is that these powders give you a mighty muzzleflash! *Treat problems like a dog; Take a sniff ..... If it can't be killed, eaten, or fucked? Just pie on it, and walk on!:-) Arild.

Wink I have loads from Ladeboken - pressure tested available. I meant contact me - not check my book. Only AR loads I list are those that check out on QuickLoad and compare with others. I don't list unchecked loads Pierre van der Walt
