Shitheads aren't welcome here. The forum Members are merely relaying that information.

Geez,

With moderating like this, who needs moderators.

BTW, how many moderators do we have at this forum?

Paul,

Good post. Need more of this kind of moderating. Big Grin

AR has always been at it's best when there is no moderating. There have been a few rare instances when some jerks have tried to tie up the sight with mass postings or viruses that I can see needing some attention. Other than that, an open cival forum functions best.

The only reason I have the moderator title is I suggested to Saeed to add a small bore forum a few years back, and he said ok and asked if I'd be the moderator. I've suggested a few more forums since then and hence got stuck with them. I even at one time asked Saeed to get rid of my moderator status, but he requested I stay, so out of friendship I did.

I've never considered myself a moderator, rather a fellow poster who enjoys shooting, hunting, reloading, bullet casting and gunsmithing, from 22 rf to 500 Jeffrey and a few in between Wink I also like conversing with like minded folks the world over, and have even had the opportunity to meet a few folks on the forums.

I've never moved, removed or edited a post. Ok, I have deleted duplicate posts to clean up a thread, but that's it.

It's all fun to me and just a hobby or past time if you will. Some folks take this stuff way too seriously. I just can't see how it's fun if you get your panties in a wad about how someone frames a question, or if they have poor social skills.

Paul H,

Well said... I see AR in the same way and have thoroughly enjoyed being a member here for the past year and a half. I've learned alot and AR is a part of my daily routine - much to my wife's dismay at times, lol. Throughout the day I log in off and on to see what's happening on the Board, beginning first thing in the morning as the coffee pot is still perking and ending before I retire to bed.

I see my fellow posters here as brothers in a great tradition that we all share and enjoy. There's a wide variety of experience and knowledge here, which makes it really enjoyable. It's appreciated that we're not Nannied by the moderators, though in a few instances it would be nice to see some of the troublemakers ousted. All in all it's best left just as it is... AR is the finest site on the Net for our great past-time.

I got a question for those of you calling for the ignore feature. What is so damn hard about seeing the name of somebody you want to ignore and just scrolling past their post? What is it that makes you read it and get pissed off? I'm just curious so "ignore" my post if it upsets you.

Roger,

It seems you are the one with the thin skin.

Did you even bother to look up the original thread, or are you just piling on because you are in the '.45-70 as DGR' camp, but won't back your words with action?

George

George,

I don't think you have ever read any of my post's. I have stated many, many, times, that I don't believe the 45/70 is a DG gun.
When I first suggested the 45/70 Buff Raffle, it was to get as many interested in the Raffle as possible. Using the 45/70 as the bait to draw both the DG gun as well as the lever boys to the Raffle. Even with as much dumb and negitive feedback, it worked. Too bad the hunt didn't go as planned. And yes, if I would have won, I would have hunted the Buff with 45/70.

As to this thread, which started out pretty well, it to has somehow gone to the Troll round file.

Two pages for the 'TROLL' thread to deteriorate... Frowner

I'm guilty of:
being extremely opinionated;
sometimes a bit thin-skinned and back-talking;
taking offense at being 'talked down to'...

Such is the nature of most of us on this Forum, I'm sure.
Regardless of our expertise or experience, we ALL have that pride that goes with the character of the gun enthusiast.

A couple of points well taken are that the internet is a place where the original 'tone' or intent of the poster isn't easily determined; and how easily a thread can be hijacked.
Not that we should be walking on eggshells around here, but it might be something to keep in mind as we share our common interest --- GUNS!!!

I hereby apologise for past transgressions. I really just didn't think it mattered much as I thought things could easely get back on track if anyone wanted it to.

I guess I'm just a bit shy about starting my own thread incase no one answers. Oh the shame of being ignored. When it happens to me in someone elses thread I just assume I've been overlooked. Smiler

So with forum experence riseing I pledge to endevour to persevere to improve my manners, sence of humour, etc etc. Wish me well.

I love this site.

As they say, "Opinions are like assholes... every one has one." Having said that, if you don't like mine... stick it!

Too many with electronicly inflated egos here.

Who is it that thinks they are the final authority on any topic?

This country is powerful because of its diverse population base. There's room for all.
