Hi
I like low pressure, so I'm wondering what the cheapest way is to get there, using a CZ?

I'm after a 416 Rigby necked up to 458. thanks

cz sells exactly this for 1500. the 450 rigby.

assuming you already have a cz in 416 rigby.

barrel and recoil lug
200
reamer (no one has these right now) and headspace gages
$200
chamber/headspace
100-150
sights+mounting
250
bluing
150-200
bedding
100

Or about a grand.

sell the cz 416 for a PENNY more than 500 and you are ahead.

Like Jeffe says, start with the CZ in 450 Rigby.

The 450 Rigby is essentially a 416 Rigby necked up and improved. Sort of like comparing a 270 to a 30/06 Improved.

Thanks

Can't really tell how far down the road the 450 is. First it goes to gunsmith for bedding and crossbolts, but, anyone know if you get a better quality gun, for another 800 bucks?

thanks

Since the 450Rigby requires a full length magnum action, I can't think of a less expensive route than a factory CZ550 or maybe a rechambered ZKK602 458Win.

I would prefer to get the CZ 450 Rigby than fla3006 mention of the rechambered 458.

But then I like things to arrive new in the box. In other words my preference is not based on logic Big Grin

The poster Old Sarge has a rechambered 458 for sale and with different things done to the rifle. I think he is only looking for a $1000 or $1200 or so. He has been on the forum for a long time so I think he would be selling an honest rifle.

perhaps you misunderstand my post.

it assumes you have the action and that it's not buggered. My post says it would be cheaper to get a CZ in 450 rigby than rebuild one... UNLESS you have a stock issue (fit, finish, grade, whatever)

and less time, with less RISK

Does anyone know if there is a multi stage press that will work for 416 rigby based cartridges?

GS...I set up my Dillon AT500 to do .416 Rigby. I have the automatic primer feed on it, so it is almost as fast as my 550b. I chose not to use the powder measure and make it fully progressive due to the large charges of powder in the Rigby. Mine works great and beats the heck out of a single stage. If you do go with a Dillon, when you order the shell plate for the Rigby based cartridges, MAKE SURE you talk to someone who knows what they are talking about at Dillon. I went through two different "technical" advisors before I got a guy that knew what he was talking about and sent me the right shell plate. The proper shell plate is fairly new in their line up and if you don't get your point across you will end up with one for 45-70. It took several phone calls before I got it straightened out. Anyway if you have any other questions you can PM me or if you want to talk, I will be glad to give you a call.

I'm pretty sure RCBS has discontiued the progressive kit for the Ammomaster. At least thats what they told me on the phone.

A friend said He'd heard that generally it didn't work very good due to design issues. But that if you got a good one they worked well.

I found this out right after I got My Ammomaster bawling
