Sorry, I couldn't post the full link.

Greener 8 bore Cape gun, barrels cut to 19 1/4" w/traditional British orange fiber optic front bead!

All for a mere $21.5K. The case, wood, and refinish job doesn't look bad otherwise, but I have to ask, What The Hell They were Thinking!!!! killpc

Judging from the case the barrels were 25-26".
Considering the cost of proper rebarrelling and the resulting non-original gun's value, I would say $5k is more realistic.

Just plain sad Frowner

I hate to be picky, but that is not a CAPE GUN, but a double rifle! A "CAPE GUN" is a combination gun with one barrel a rifle, and the other a shotgun, in a S/S configuration!

I don't think this thing was cut down, but ordered that way, from Greener, for a special purpose weapon. My opinion is based on the fact that the fitted case is period, and everything fits the case. It would be a hoot to shoot, for the first barrel, but maybe not the second barrel. Eeker

I think it was ordered that way for use from a Howdah in India, or to go into the weeds with wounded BITE-BACKS. The BRITE-SITE, was added later by someone who has bad eyesight, and being able to see the sight was more important than history to him! The fiber optics sight seems to be epoxyed on the top of the rib, and easily removed. I would love to read it's history from Greener, and I'd be surprised if it were not shipped first to INDIA! Addtionally I would love to own this rifle, but $21.5K????????? beer

I wonder how long G&H has had it. If they are like everyone else with high dollar stagnant inventory they might take $15K?

I was hungry anyway! Red Face

It says in the description before you pull up the pictures "21,500, one of a kind 8 bore double rifle"

Now that I see at the bottom of the picture discription, as Hog Killer points out, it does say Lft bbl rifled, RT bbl smooth, so it is a Cape gun and it is worth even less than if it were a double rifle. I collect cape guns, and if this is a fair price today for this cape gun, I have some to sell! Big Grin It is certainly not worth even $15K! I've never seen a cape gun that was more than $4000! Even if it were a double rifle, it isn't worth more than $10K, unless it belonged to someone famous! Confused

It is a shame to see a fine rifle like this fall prey to Bubba the wayward gunsmith. Hopefully, there was a reason for this modification, such as severe damage to the muzzles?

Having shot an 8 Bore I'd have to say she'd be a big ole pussy cat to shoot. This under lever single I fired in Oct was really nice to shoot. kind of like squeezing a big ole fat fanny heavy but soft.

Guy's I've been on serious pain killers for a month now,, had a spinal surgery that went kind of bad.

I can barely remember my dogs name.

But I think.

It was either a 1400gr bullet at about 1400 FPS or a 1200 gr bullet at same velocity. Or something like that. I honestly do not remember the make but it was fun to shoot. I do remember that. Cool

Geez, now I need to go up to G&H just to look at this thing.

Someone enlighten me. What is the purpose of the dovetail under the fiberoptic? The original sight appears to be forward of it.

Surestrike:
I have to ask. Was your spinal injury the result of shooting the 8 Bore? Wink

Big Grin

You never can tell. But if I had to guess I'd have to say it was all those thousands of rounds of .45-70 I've fired in my lifetime. Wink
