JOEYBONES416 RUGER
I found this information on a web site called ammo-one.com. Not much other information other then they are selling for $ 49.75 each.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The 416 Ruger was limited to
only 200 Cartridges. The Cartridge was made by Bell Brass for a very special (No.1) Ruger Single Shot
Rifle. The Rifle and most of the
ammunition were given to Bill Ruger on his 75 th. birthday on 06/21/91.
dgr416I hope the 416 ruger comes out in factory form next year.I will probally make one up on my old Ruger Model 77 Ruger in 7 mm rem mag.If the factory guns are not too much I might just buy one in stainless .I just like the old tang safety alot better than the model 70 safety that I always have to hunt for when shooting fast.I have always wanted a 416 taylor in an old ruger but 458 brass is almost inpossible to find these days.
HockeyPuckOnly one .416 Ruger was made and it was auctioned off for a charitable cause. There was also only one run of the .416 Ruger brass made, too (by BeLL). The headstamp was unique.
Hello Ed,
Thanks for helping me install the updates to AccuLoad3. Outstanding software there.
Any idea what the one-of-a-kind .416 Ruger case was like? I did not see it listed in the massive database of AccuLoad3.
If anyone is looking for software to give realistic prediction regarding pressures and velocities for the given load, he couldn't do better than AccuLoad III, new and improved.
So easy even a caveman (like me) could do it!
HockeyPuckHi Ron,
We didn't include the .416 Ruger as there was only one rifle in existance and, odds are, it will never be fired. The headstamp on the case was BeLL | 16 | 97 | 416 RUGER. Strangely enough, the 16 was supposed to be 19. It was Bill Ruger's birthday in 1997 when the auction was held, or so I'm told.
Somewhere in my cartridge stuff, I have a copy of the headstamp drawing that was approved for production and it had the 16 in the 9 o'clock position. I found out about the 16-19 mix-up by speaking with Jim Bell at the 2006 St. Louis International Cartridge Show. By the way... his mom is a hoot!
I also have the reamer drawing. I've just got to dig them out. When I find them, I'll mail you a copy.
Regards,
HockeyPuck
HockeyPuckI got back from the 2007 St. Louis Cartridge Show night before last. I had forgotten what COLD was really like!
Anyway, I renewed my search for the data on the .416 Ruger and I actually found it! I've scanned it in, but have no idea on how to post it. If I can get a volunteer, I'll email the files as BMP, JPG or PDF. It's five pages in all.
HockeyPuck
Hoorah for HockeyPuck!
You too boom stick.
They changed the 45 degree shoulder of the .416 Rigby into a 30 degree shoulder.
Headstamp typo of "1697" instead of "1997" is really a bit of a stretch for nostalgia, don't you think?
The .395 Tatanka will be similar, but with a 20 degree shoulder and necked to .395.
Many tatanka fell to the Clovis projectile of various calibers. Now I really feel all warm and fuzzy nostalgic. How, kola!
