I have a Winchester manufactured Enfield P17 that is currently a 300 Win Mag, but it is still too heavy even for this caliber. I had an idea to convert/rebarrel to a 404 Jefferey. Is this a realistic conversion? Can this be done without a lot of fuss concerning feed rails other then the normal polishing? The floor plate has already been modified, so how many would the magazine be able to hold? I feel this would be a much better caliber for this action for this weight rifle. Contact Dennis Olson in Plains Montana. He is very knowledgable on the P-17's and a very good gunsmith. ****************************** There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor polite, nor popular -- but one must ask, "Is it right?" Martin Luther King, Jr. | |||

For the simple practicality of it, 416 rem is a better and easier to feed choice.. then again, it's just a couple greenback to dennis and it will feed like paul mauser built it jeffe opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round?
