Went to the range with 4 Doubles the other day. A fella I met at the DSC and his friend are going back to Africs and are thinking about getting double rifles. Besides my 450/400 3 1/4" and my 450 No2, I had on hand a Holland & Holland Dominion 500/465 that I am working loads up for, and a Westley Richards 470 that I am testing for someone else. We shot the Westley with Federal factory loads and it shot very good. We shot reloads in the other rifles including some Nitro for Black loads in the 450 no2 and the 400, more about them later. I also shot some 450 gr Norht Fork Cup points in the 450 No2. When the day was done we all agreed that any of the four would be excellent rifles for a Safari. There is no rifle like a British Double. More about the different loads later. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY | ||
