Gents, I didn't post much over the last 6-8 years or so but I was part of the first wave of lurkers in the beginning who joined in discussion in early 99 or so.I have had to retire my big guns due to health reasons and just wanted to thank all for the knowledge, friendships and lively debates especially during the 1999-2005 period. Casting my mind back to the early 2000's making one of the sites first 585 wildcats, fighting in the ''troll wars'' against scotts(lol) the ignore button wars,helping Mike375 unveil Bill Tibbe, arguing with G. Hoffman, tangling with Atkinson and Mac on many a good thread, friendships with RIP, Nickudu, Ed Hubel, Mitch Carter and Teenut(RIP).And lastly not quite pissing the moderators GeorgeS, Jeffeosso and site bosses Saeed and DonG too much to get banned (In fact I probably overestimated my impact on these fine gents anyway).
I was a bit of a kid through most of it as I am only 38 now, but too many years in warzones and probably wrestling bouts getting dropped on my head have taken it out of me

I was lurking here with you by late 1999, a budding wildcatter and buffalo hunter, learning the ropes,
and ogling Saeed's dead buffalo pictures, like the broken-horned 49-incher that got me hooked on this site.
But it is the vast depth of "Practical Dope on the Big Bores" here that really makes this site unique for many of us.

Do not "missunderestimate" your recuperative powers.
Also, you do not have to be actively taking a beating from big bores to be a big bore yourself, right along with the rest of us here.

Thanks all. I deleted one answer and then reconsidered. I usually don't go into personal shit like this on the net but following may serve as a warning for others. Like most I have some tinnitus. Which was not initially a problem, however I noticed my hearing had dropped off a bit 2 months ago after some noisy heavy vehicle driving. Took 3 weeks off to get all the tests. No medical dramas but I had lost 2% hearing( only 1% more than I did in the army so pretty minor), some mild hyperacusity in one ear(over senstivity to sound) and the very mild tinnitus in the background. No dramas, I always figured I could handle a linear progression to deafness as I got older
However went back to work and the first day back the tinnitus suddenly jumped up volume so much I had to quit. 2 months researching it and ENT's and audiologists unable to agree on anything, except yeah it can jump like that even without further hearing loss.It may go back down again but I was advised to avoid loud noises from now on anyway. Anyway we all got a different version of this thing, but my advice is cover your ears up whenever possible.Don't want the next % loss to be your last in the sport.

Get some suppressors for your rifles.

There is a lot of attenuation with a good can.

Welcome to the world of big bore shooters..I don't really need hearing protection, I can't hear shit ..but most here know that from SCI. Hearing protection was unheard of in my day and I found out too late. I use it now however..

My wife asked my grandson, "Well what did Papa say?" He replied "He said what he always says, what, what, what!

Hang around, you can still read and type and always had something worth listening too.
