Hello everybody! My first entry on this interesting forum. A year ago there was some talk about Hollands new cartridge, .400H&H, but it has been quiet lately. Does any of you gentlemen know anything about this? I also recall there was another too, but can not remember the caliber. Have searched on the web but negative. Thanks. Bent Fossdal. Here you go. Left to right: .375 H&H, .400 H&H, and the .465 H&H. Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. I thought that it was strange that they loaded the 400 and the 465 to such low velocities. Cal. Bullet grains M.V.f/sec .465________480____2375 .400________400____2375 .375________300____2500 They pushed the shoulder so far back on the 400 (and a lesser extent on the 465) it really cut down on the boiler room. I would like to see the shoulders further forward to get the 400 and the 465 both to close to 2500 fps with their respective factory bullets. Fjold, They probably achieved exactly what they wanted to as regards the velocities. Regards Webley

Tanks everybody for Your answers!Nitroman, are those in Your private collection? I collect myself, as a professional gunsmith in Norway I might be able to pick up stuff if anybody wants to trade? Bent Fossdal Reiso 5685 Uggdal Norway

Mr. Fossdal, No sir they are not. I remember copying the photo when H&H first announced the new cartridges. I honestly do not even remember where I acquired the photo. John Ricks, a gunsmith in Oregon(?) U.S.A. who posts here, does chamber for the rifles, he may be able to acquire some cartridges to trade with you. I suspect they will become quiter and quiter as time goes by...Both fine cartridges, but simply are a repeat of the many cartridges we have in commercial loadings... Ray Atkinson Atkinson Hunting Adventures 10 Ward Lane, Filer, Idaho, 83328 208-731-4120 rayatkinsonhunting@gmail.com

Bent, I have been following the .400 H&H and the .465 H&H for over three years now, and they are coming at Holland's own sweet time. I continue to visit with their Technical Director at the SCI Convention. They are making rifles and I believe about 10 .400 H&Hs have been delivered. There is a prototype .465 H&H being used by a PH in Africa. At last update he had taken 5 elephant with 6 shots. Wolfgang Romey is developing the ammunition. Perhaps you can get some from him in Germany. These cartridges are built in the Holland house style: low pressure for reliability, lots of taper to ease extraction and belted cartridges for headspace control. jim if you're too busy to hunt, you're too busy.
