After having many phone calls lately with folks on this board, there appears to be a common thread in our interests in Big Bore rifles and Hot Cars. It would be interesting to hear and or share pics of your "rides". My daily driver is a 2002, ZO6 Corvette that's been heavily modified about ( 500 RWHP). What do you guys drive?

Hi Rob:

I had about four Vettes, Hot Mustang Cobras, Roadrunners and even a Sebring. My current HOT Ride, though not equal to your Z06 in power, is a 2003 Vette, 50th Anniversary, 6 speed, vert.

Big Bores, Fast Cars, and ahhh ahem.... Fast Women
Hell send me to Africa every two years and I am in HEAVEN....... You can bury me Happy. [Wink] [Wink]

Shhhhhhhh... Don't let my wife read this... [Big Grin]

PS... I also have a few Harleys to add to the mix.

Ahh the good old days ... before being layed off due to the acquisition of my company. Did leave me with some toys finished and one on-going project.

Have a pretty nice Cobra replica ... 347 Coast Industries stroker, Victory Jr heads (making about 425 hp), EFI, Tremec 5 speed, narrowed rear end w 12 x 17 rims running 335 x 17 Dunlop SP8000s, Mike Mack's headers, lots of original fittings.

 -

Am about half way through the completion of the chassis, suspension, and body of a GT40 replica. Going to be a nice one ... but having to start a consulting business to afford the toys once again.

Car and guns characterized by blinding performance are Wonderous things!

I would like to hear more about your Vette. My dad has an '84 with 18k miles but my favorite was his '66 427 stingray. My favorite recent vehicle was a Triumph 900 triple cycle similar to Tom Cruise's in Mission Impossible 2.

My transportation in rural Alaska is a little unusual. I have a couple of ATV's (one of them is piped & clutched) and snowmachines. Both ATV's run about 60 mph and the snowmachine is over 100 mph which is darn fast on the ice! I'm getting a 21' Phantom jetboat that has 175 hp which is alot for a little jetboat. I'm in love with that boat already...3000 lb load rating, space for ATV's, 55 mph, etc. I've got a video of it running over islands, logs, sandbars, etc. with the motor still running.

My tow vehicle is a 3/4 ton 454 Suburban.

I should have said how nice some of the replicas can be. Nice Cobras. FWIW, I've heard it's offensive to call them "kit cars".

The fastest I've been on land is 140 on a Ninja...as a passenger. There was also the time we hit a bunch of ducks at 85 mph in a 18' jetboat that had a nice smallblock in it. I won't attempt to tell any stories about a cousin's Cigarette boat that has twin 6-71 blown 500 inch big blocks in it. Let's just say he wakes everyone up when he starts it.

Cars, bikes, boats...it's all good.

In '64, I drove a '61 Vette (283, 230HP, stock). After a year, traded it for a '63 Stingray convertible (327, 340HP, stock). That's the extent of my muscle cars, although the first wasn't really a muscle car. Like to have one of the new ones, seem to be the best ever. Presently drive a '95 Jeep Cherokee and a '72 Chevy C-10, purchased new. I drive 'em a long time now and spend my money on travel and nice rifles.

Axel- Stock the car Dyno'd at 364 RWHP! The car has the flowed ARE heads/ cam /computer package with TPI-long tube headers. I also have a 75hp shot dry Nitrous "window system" on it for those Pesky Viper guys who plague me! I'm afraid of going any further than that with the stock pistons and compression. Sometimes I win and sometimes I lose! There are some really fast Vipers out here! Not much else comes close!-Rob

See if this works -

This is a land speed record vehicle I built with a buddy back in '93. It is the worlds fastest 5 liter naturally aspirated vehicle at 304 mph for a two way average, and clocking 330 mph in one of the mile long timing traps.

I'm currently saddled with family rides, but am considering either building a caterham super 7 with a hayabusa bike motor (130 hp is enough to be exciting in a car under 1000#, or could be turboed to produce 250+hp), or getting a GMC Typhoon as a street sleeper/family ride, and pumping up the engine to ~500 hp. A co-worker has a Tyhpoon w/ 700 hp, can't wait to check it out.

Robgunbuilder, sounds like you have replaced just about everything but the pistons! What is the cam duration and lift? Do you have the flow numbers for the ARE heads? What does the car top end at? What is the car's 1/4 mile time? Do you still need to use all the transmission gears to maintain a smooth acceleration, or can you skip a few?

I have driven a Viper and I thought it was superior to the Z06 Vette in the acceleration. The Vette has more refined handling characteristics than the Viper though!

I shoot a 416 Rem mag Win 70 SS Safari Express Shot show special from their custom shop.

Four wheel ride for the last 31 years is a '69 ragtop vette with 370 hp LT1 and close ratio gearbox. Black body and aux hardtop, white softop. ZL1 flares, flat-black sidepipes and real knock-offs. It also has the original hood from the only documented ZL1 all aluminum 427 known to exist, which as fate would have it, rolled down the assembly line five cars in front of mine on September 11, 1969. Soiled my pants at 130 mph and backed down. Never ran the quarter mile.

Two wheel ride is Lazer red '98 H-D Fatboy. Soiled my pants at 105 and backed down. Never ran the quarter mile.

Best ET ever for my '57 Chev Nomad wagon with 425 hp 396, wide ratio muncie on street tires was 12.5 flat. No mph cause the track was also a small airport and didn't have speed traps, but estimate it at 108.

Well I've got a sexy woman (very) and a few big bores but like you I've dipped out in the muscle car stakes - got a cruiser HJ60 with standard 2H engine. I have thought about an engine transplant mind you - chev v8 turbo diesel etc but would rather go back to Africa one day so a new engine is way down the list.

Had a nice Torana when I was a young fella tho - fully race prepared 253. With the standard 3.08:1 diff it used to pull 60 MPH in 1st, 80 in 2nd, 120 in 3rd and I never had a long enough road or big enough cojones to wind it out in 4th. Blew the ring out of the diff the first time I tried to do a burn out. Replaced it with a 9" ford 3.7:1 and promptly blew the M20 gearbox to bits. Replaced with a Toploader and problem solved. Geez I still miss the sound of those forged Arias pistons rattling away when the engine was cold and the roller rockers at full revs!!

Hooroo

I`ll just list what I have currently , judge for yourself !
T/C Encore pistol in 50/70 Govt. , largest rifle is a 45/70 Rolling Block (powerwise it`s a wildcat based on a 9,3x74 R, necked down and blown out)
Well cars are currently :
1970 Dodge Challenger T/A , 340 Six Pack , 4 speed ,(one of 28 built in Panther Pink) I replaced the 3,55:1 rear end with a 2,76 and topped 150mph more than once on the Autobahn !
1969 Plymouth Road Runner , 478 ci motor (400 block , 440 crank offset ground , Ross pistons....)4 speed , dark red with black stripes on the hood, just finished , never driven , but is expected to go at least 160 mph top speed, isn`t this why they built our Autobahn ????
1964 Plymouth Sport Fury , no motor at the moment ....planned is a modified HEMI with 500 +ci and colour will be "Petty Blue" with no. 43 on the sides ..................!
I won`t go into details about bikes , I work at the local Harley Davidson Dealership !My favourite is the V-Rod and the new Buell XB9 S ,maybe not the most powerful bikes , but you`ll get all the looks ! [Big Grin]

I have a pair of .375's and a pair of Chev. Nova drag cars. The faster one has a 290ci with a sheet metal intake 2-4bbl. SBC-Buick heads and dynoed 660 horsepower. For you people who drive street cars and think 5.0 is fast 0-60, this 2700 pound car with 290 ci goes 0-60 in 1.3 seconds. With one of these, you leave at 7800 rpm, shift at 9800, makes a nice ride.

Nothing fancy now but when I was younger I had a 1970 Boss 302 and 1972 Gran Torino Sport which to my eyes was one of the most appealing of the muscle cars. Even though I was always a blue oval guy, the one car I've always lusted after was the original Studebaker Avanti. Not many still around.

Interesting thread as I would like to talk about my stuff too.

However the anti American theme of this forum by the host, Saeed, has changed my mind about this place. Some of us have emailed Saeed and posted here about his vendeta against the USA and he does not change. So I suggest that we all find other forums to post on. The strength and interest that this forum has is in it's members.

Think about it.
