boom stickBaby Big Bore
Can you guess what this is???
Thought this was a fun idea and thought to share it with the Big hole crowd.
240 Wby case cut to 2.050" stuffed with a 44 bullet.
The idea for a marlin 336 35 Rem lever conversion but being a 308 size rim loaded out in a bolt action to short action length of 2.8" ish would make this quite interesting. 405 SD would be .310, 350 would be .268 SD and fun to shoot lighter pistol bullets. Thanks to Bent Fossdal for making the dummy.
Here is a Beartooth 405 grain 44 bullet
Thanks for looking

MacifejI think that's called a 450 Marlin...chambered in Steyr Bolt guns too...

boom stick450 marlin is a .458" bullet and a .532" rim and belt. This is the 450 marlin version for the .470" rim with a 44 bullet (.432")
Turn a 243 into a mini big bore.

Yes but will work in a 336 and you can crimp. I like the rimless 444 too.
If I were to do a rimless short action .470" casehead/rim based cart I would be tempted do a 425-08 (.435" WR bullet on a 308 length case) I think the 425-06 would be best though.

.366torqueboom, I just did a quick search on
Marlin's site and couldn't find the
338 MX. Is it in a 336? If so there's your maximum case for the 336.

I am confused about this too.
Boddington said it was a XLR 336 based gun and if that is so then why not go 475 or 458 since the 338 ME is a .500" casehead???
Using the older leverguns the 440 is a good idea.
That said, a belted case to 2+" length 44 is a cool idea in a short action turnbolt conversion imho.
