Interesting. What brand is the scope, buckstix? I'd be interested to know how it survives the recoil.

A quick google search of "2.5x20 #21005 scope" brings multiple pages suggesting it's a Simmons shotgun scope. 21005 was their part number.

Thanks buckstix, as you may know I don't trust modern scopes with the usual constantly centred reticle because the guts are are all slung on spring suspension. The only one I know of that avoided that vulnerability was the Pecar Champion, where a centering illusion was achieved simply by adding a field stop to the little-old reticle cell while the erector set remained rock solid behind it. Though Pecar kept the faith longer than any other western hunting-scope maker, I'm sorry to say it closed in 2006.

I upgraded the scope to a Leupold. http://www.buckstix.com/buckpi...-A-SQUARE-SCOPED.jpg ![]() " .... you never pay too much for something, you only buy it too early .... " How to Hunt Wisconsin Whitetail Deer with a Cannon How to Hunt Feral Cats with a Mortar

Ray Atkinson would probably say that's as good as anything these days, buckstix - but even fixed-power Leupolds are hard to find. Variables add extra mass and complication to the mini-me suspended inside, of course. If that scope can't take it, ask Leupold to make one for you like they did for Ray, which I infer from their own words was reticle-movement. And if they do, tell me 'cause I want one, too.
