taking out the african safari ammo avaliability quotient...how come more poeple don't make the blr into a 375 chatfield taylor or 375 dakota? heck even the 375 epstein. wouldn't this be a great albeit semi ugly only the owner could love rig? sofa sofa sofa sofa sofa

If I were going to build a 375 Taylor, I would go on and build a 416 Taylor. With 300 grain bullets, it will shoot plenty flat at the plains game ranges you would reasonably use a lever action, and with 400 gr bullets at 2300-2350, it would be a much better buffalo rifle, particularly in a fight.

Like Art S. I think if I were going to bother with customizing a BLR, I wouldn't stop till I got to the 416 Taylor. I think you would run into a lot of feeding problems with the Dakota rounds anyway. The BLR that started life as a 7mm mag is the same perent case as the Taylor, so should be fairly easy to get good feeding. The sting can be taken out of the BLR with a little stock work, and a heavier barrel. If one is to put up with a wildcat, I say get everything you can get in doing it! beer

yeah, i was thinking a heavy stainless barrel and take the receiver down to the aluminum kinda making a bastardized weathermaster if you will. like i said a rifle only the owner could love but a handy size 375 with h+h power and lever action for quick shots sounds a heck of a lot better then a 325 wsm to me any day. oops did i just step in it with badmouthing the short mags? btw...ive given up on the dakota round because of the feeding problems that might happen unless you guys can convince me otherwise.

this rifle already has a name...snuffy

p.s. wouldnt this be good for hunting lions in africa? i dont want to hunt lions but this sounds good to have in a pride situation

Paolo Spot on mate! Having one in .270Win shooting it with open sights off the bench is painful enough!
