grizzinater, One difference is that the .470 Capstick was registered with SAAMI (by Art Alphin) so there are standard drawings available. George

The 475 Ackley and the 470 Capstick are basically the same. The Capstick has a ghost shoulder but they are ballistically the same. Take care, Dave

Do they use the same diameter of bullet. It seems that the capstick would be the way to go? How do you fellas rate the capstick? Good and bad?

I'll let you know in December. I'm getting my 375 H&H rebored to 470 Capstick. I'm looking forward to it. There's a few folks on this board who own Capsticks, hopefully they'll chime in or search the forum for it. There's also the 470 Mbogo, .475 caliber based on the 416 Rigby case to look into ... The capstick and ackley are close enough ... like camaro vs firebird, that the only realy difference is name and actual dimensions... If it were ME, and those the only choices, it would be the capstick, even though St Parker would frown. However, there are 2 other , imnsho, GREAT .475 bolt action rounds... the 470 Mbogo, by my good friend Dave - 470mbogo, which is ACTUALLY a propritary round, as just rigby brass is a might too short, but works perfectly. it EASSILY throws 500gr at 2500FPS, and is wicked wicked wicked... It inspired me, as well as several other rascals on this forum, to start big bore wildcatting (you know who you are) and the 470 AR which, in short (pun INTENDED) is a 470 capstick in a strandard length action. It is a shortned and improved RUM case. WHile I haven't take a LONG barreled version and tried to get all out max velocities, it will throw 500gr at nearly 2400, but 2300 is far better ... due to bullets AND pressures.. and it more or less drops into a 7rem action ... The last 2, btw, have no belt, if that matters to you ... it doesn't make a difference to me, as some times belts are the perfect answer jeffe opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? Hi Jeffe, I'm planning to have my CZ 550 (overly long magazine for a 375 H&H) freebored a smidge so I can seat my 470 Capstick rounds out a bit (I'm hoping for an OAL of 3.75 instead of 3.65) since it's a straight (parallel not conical) throat accuracy shouldn't really suffer at all. I'd like an honest 2400 fps out of a 24" barrel. Chuck Regards, Chuck "There's a saying in prize fighting, everyone's got a plan until they get hit" Michael Douglas "The Ghost And The Darkness"
