I was at a gun show yesterday and I noticed a Whitworth chambered in 458 Win. Mag. with what appeared to be a Hogue stock on it. It had open sights and (barf) a muzzle break on it. Barrel was probably 22" to 24" or so. Price tag was $450. I was thinking about going back and looking at it again tomorrow and who knows, maybe bring it home with me. The muzzle break would have to go, though. Did I miss out on a good deal?

I would think that was a pretty good deal. Where else will you find a 458 at that price? Peter. Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright, that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong;

original Whitworths go for $650-$800...and sometimes less. If you really like the synthetic stock then it's a deal....otherwise you may be buying an action only, and that's still not bad. If the barrel finishes at 22" after removing the brake and recrowning, you have a 458.....if not you're in for rebarreling.....but it's your decision. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."
