Anyone build one of these yet? If so what kind of performance do you get? Do you like it?

i guess since is says HH on it, it must be good ...

or, i guess, this is HH's emo "pay attention to me, I am not the 460 webby" ...

Seriously, Rich, you should 10X your +anti ruger" on HH trying to "create" something that aint broke

Jeffe,

I got complete confidence that five years from now H&H will still be building rifles in this chambering. By then ruger will have a whole new MKIII action series out and an entire new line of cartridges for it.

It used to be the gun manufacturers would let a wildcat prove itself then chamber for it. Lately it seems between the RUMs, WSMs, WSSMs and Ruger cartridges we have many cartridges no one was clamoring for and in many cases as good if not better alternatives are already out there. If Ruger made a Hawkeye or African in 375 H&H and 416 Remington I would like to see how the sales compared with their Ruger rounds. As fas as the 465 H&H goes, the only bolt action .470 caliber bolt action around that I'm aware of is the 470 Capstick which no mainline gun manufacturer is chambering for.

My two cents,

Chuck

Chuck

The 400 H&H is equal to the 416 Rigby and 465 H&H is almost equal to the 450 Dakota. i.e. a 480 grain bullets at 2,400 fps. By the way the bullet is .468 in diameter, not ,465.

Why, then the 465 H & H Magnum is a cartridge more powerful than my beloved 458 Lott. I see that you like strong emotions. Can you send me an article about the H & H Magnum 465 and 458 Lott?

Thanks, my email is:

Here are some drawings and photos:
http://www.municion.org/

The 465's diameter is just under the 470 bullets. Ctg rim/belt diameter is very close to 460 wby, but a tad different. New meaning to the word oddball. [edit. maybe it is the wby case, suspect minor measurement diff on municion website]

The 465 H&H:

And the 470 mbogo (nicer choice IMHO):

The 470 Mbogo is quite fine. I like Ed Hubel's thinking a bit more though, in that he

makes STRAIGHT WALLED belted or rimmed cart's that have LONG, LONG, LONG

case lives, {saving reloaders substantial money} that are easy to reload, and that

are low pressure which is better for the rifle. He's doing a new sub .500" caliber now

that will be a PLUMB!

Now you are talking! I agree 110% on Eds work. I dont see much room under 50 and over the 45. There is the 470 capstick, as you describe, has been offered in past by Winchester custom shop FWIW.

Over 50, there is the supremely excellent 585HE and a tad smaller is the 550 mag. The 550 has 460Wby basic brass available and the 585 has much wider bullet selection. And 585 is just tops in my book, able to duplicate 577NE and go way higher if wanted.

Here are some pics, (not to same scale) any of these excellent belted rounds, can go staggered magazine in CZ550. (470=5 down, other two should be hold 4)

The capstick 470 (on H&H case)

The 550 mag (on wby case)

The 585HE (on modified GMA case)
