I was out at the range today shooting at 50yds offhand with the Ruger Lott.Very humid and cool watery eye vision of the target. My goal today was to really concentrate on the sight picture meaning the rear and front sight and the target. You cannot have all three in focus at the same time.I had the rear sight and front sight in correct alignment and the pulled the trigger quick but with the least disturbance.I am happy with the results in such that there where no shots tossed to much to the left or right.I should have payed more attention to how much of the front bead was visible in my rear sight. It was difficult shooting because a very clear vision of the target was not quickly attainable. BTW,the rifle needs a cleaning and is not very accurate to begin with.

As has been said, it is minute of buffalo remembering though that at 100m your grouping will be virtually double that shown on the target. Then again you would most likely be using sticks or a tree rest when in the field.
I'm guessing the squares on your target are 1" so you have kept your shots in an 8" circle.

Off hand at 50m with my Mauser .404 I can usually keep my shots into a 3" circle, a little smaller than the white outlined circle on your target, but this is using a 2x EER Leupold scope to overcome what you are finding in trying to line up three things when using open sights. This gets harder as the eyesight deteriorates with age too.
My light set Timney trigger breaks like glass so is very conducive to off hand shooting. As the cross hair moves onto the bull the touch off is instant albiet with the slower locktime of the Mauser.

I'll 2nd Jeffe's words, as I was at the Hoot and Shoot when it took place. After all the ribbing George took from you all, that guy can really crank out the rounds!

Yeah, but remember I was shooting the lady gun....375 H&H. I don't have anything between that and a 600 Overkill. I would get the evil eye if I showed up and only shot trailboss loads from the OK.
