45-70 Metric High Pressure?
Hey I almost forgot about that 45-70 metric. It is supposed to have a super heavy duty case design which allows very high pressure. It can be loaded to .458 Win Mag levels. Cool

RIP! Don't you have a drawing of that thing somewhere??

Macifej- We don't need it. Vince Zippo proved to us all t hat tyhe 45-70 at 35KPSI can do it all. Why make a magnumout of a great cartridge like that. Have you forgotten so soon?-Rob

Mac!
I begged for your drawing of that cartridge and you never sent it. Have you lost it?

CIPP and SAMIAM have both adopted it, standardized.

CIPP calls it the "11.6x53mmR Marlino."
SAMIAM calls it the "45/70 Mad Mac."
Both certifying bodies specify pressure max ave:
5862 BAR or 85,000 PSI

I thought you said you were working on a new lever action suitable for this to be called the "3M" which refers to "MMM" or "Marlino Mad Mac" to honor both certifying bodies.

Or does 3M allude to the Scotch Tape and Duck Tape Rob is using to join two of them into a SxS?

45/70 Mad Mac: 70 refers to 70 grain charge of Unique, the do-all powder!

RIP!

I found the drawing and sent it to you.

Could you please post it here for all the 45-70 admirers to see?

Thanks

I spent over a year trying all kind of tricks to get a 45-70 Siamese Mauser to launch 500gr bullets at 2100fps. Never got there. Pressure was not the issue. I simply could not get enough powder into the case to ever exceed 2050fps. Even tried the AGS bullets and loading bullets out .25 inches and long throating. It never made the numbers even with bore riders. In the end, I was pretty disapointed actually. BTW the Siamese mauser 45-70 is an abortion that should never see the light of day.-Rob

Mac,
Sorry to delay.
I was mistaken! I thought you were referring to the other metric version with special case made from unobtanium-titanium-steel!

Here is your drawing for the 45mmx70mmx70mm Bubba that has a neck wall thickness of about 0.5 mm 0.020".

That ought to gitterdun! thumb
