Just bought a Brno ZKK 602 in 375 H&H with pop up peep sight Smiler Can someone suggest what mounts to put on them?

I hear there are some mounts called Hilver from Australia that are good - does anyone know where I can get them here?

Thanks

Congratulations on finding one of those. I would have grabbed it too if the price was right. How much premium is the peep worth? bewildered

Talley mounts would be the best with QD levers to allow best access to the peep utility feature. Same ones as for the CZ 550 Magnum.

Hilvers are good, I bought a set off ebay. My favorites are old-style Warne detachables, one screw at the top, no exposed screws at the bottom:

Std. equipment was one piece mount designed to accept Carl Zeiss Jena scope equipped with a rail. How much for that pre-1977 peep? I should think 150-200USD, but it's more complicated than that. Frowner How much are you willing to pay for a forged modified Magnum Mauser action with a FUNCTIONAL double square bridge? Oops, it has a stock/barrel with a no nosense express sight! clap

I have old style Warnes on my 602 375 and CZ's on my 550 416 Rigby. The Warnes set back and actually started to shear the locating lug on the rear ring. The CZ's aren't pretty but they fit perfectly and are stongly built. I think I prefer the CZ's.

My BRNO ZKK 602 is a 500 A-Square or .510 JAB as I call it, a .510/460WbyJ&B.

I've got the Zeiss Jenna 4X scope with integral mount built into the tube. The old Zeiss optics are inferior to a Leupold of today. The windage adjustment in this setup comes from 4 screws in the front end of the mount, two on each side that oppose the other side screws, and you can see them in one of Alf's pictures. The two adjustment knobs on the top of the scope are for elevation and focus, with no dialable windage adjustments. You do that with a screwdriver, painstakingly.

I also have a set of QD-Lever Low Warne rings on a Leupold 2.5X. That is one of the very few scopes that allows the bolt handle to clear the occular bell, since that occular bell is so small, and the low rings so low..

Warnes are made of cast metal.

Talleys are made of forged billets that are machined to close tolerances. Medium height is the way to go to allow the bolt handle to clear most occular bells.

The factory CZ rings are strong, but they are not QD-Lever, which you should have to go with a utilitarian peep, and they are higher than Medium Talleys..

Medium height QD-Lever Talley, that's the ticket..

I have to concur on this choice. I was able to make an incredible deal for several sets of Warne premier QD rings a while back. I now have them on almost all of my rifles. They are hands down my favorite choice in rings. I also like that the Premier bases have a very small profile.

My rifle used to be fitted with Hillver(Tasco,Lynx) mounts until they snapped off and left a dent on my Leupold.

It is now fitted with a set of Warne QD's.

A couple years ago Talley told me they wouldn't make rings for Brnos/CZs because of the potential for this problem, but now they do. I don't like the current Talleys, at least the ones they sent me about 2 weeks ago which I sent back for a refund. They don't fit tight, are painted rather than blued, look like castings instead of machined parts, the bottom locking screws are exposed now instead of covered like the old ones, etc. just not the earlier quality.

I have not seen any POS Talley products before. Bad things must have happened since they relocated from Wyoming to South Carolina.

I guess things have REALLY GONE SOUTH with TALLEY???
