Question:
What do you think the best weight for a 500 NE is? Assume it is a custom built double rifle so it will fit the user very well. Any experience with different weights would be helpful.

Choices:
More than 12 lbs
11-12lbs
10-11lbs
9-10lbs
Less than 9 lbs

How much does your 500 Searcy weigh?
The only thing I would change on it is go to 26 inch bbls.
It did not seem to heavy to me, and recoil was not bad.
His 500 shoots really good, I know I have shot it. thumb

My 450 No2 has 28 inch bbls and weighs 11 3/4 lbs. I would not change a thing, it shoots and handles like a dream.

I am with Dan on this one.. between 9 and 10 .. then again, most folks wouldn't train hard enough to shoot a 9# 500...

NE450, I think my Searcy is 11.5 pounds. That's a nice weight, and certainly can be carried all day in the hot sun. But it could be carried all day in the hot sun walking at a faster pace if it weighed less. Smiler
