Just looking at some of my favorite sites and happened on the BALLARD RIFLE COMPANY site. They list a HI-WALL EXPRESS rifle in calibers up to 577 NE. They list the weight at 8.5lb! Not sure that I would like to be the one that pulls the trigger on that one! Just thought some of you might be interested....

Ray,
This one it TOTALLY in the "too much recoil for even jeffe" department....

brutal... savage.... profound...

i think those are the adjectives the doctors would use to describe the damage to neck and shoulder

I was thinking of buying my daughter a rifle for her 9th birthday this year. That ought to fit the bill nicely.

I had a 13 lb 577NE double rifle, and I sold it because it was too damn heavy to carry, and too light to shoot, and it didn't kill any better than a well placed 400 gr bullet from my 9 lb 450/400NE 3"! nut

500 Grains:

go to www.ballardrifles.com. Click on the "Rifles" link. Then go to "Winchester" and then pick calibers and options. About 2/3 way down it will say HIGH WALL EXPRESS RIFLE, along with all the specs.

You'll need a personal chiropractor to accompany you on safari for that one!

Sounds like a recipe for a displaced shoulder to me.

DAMN! The gun is ugly too. For nearly $4000, I would expect something a little more interesting than the same rear sight that is on my factory winchester! What a bastardization of a classic gun with that recoil pad! YUCK!
