Thought of having the 570g TSX bullets shortened a bit at the tip end (about 20 grains) and had the hollow point drilled deeper by a good machine shop. I have a bunch of them. The hollow point would be wider and deeper and at 2500 fps for a 550g bullet, I would be pretty damn sure they would expand. Always a worry for an old guy used to cup and core (think A-Frame) bullets.

Chuck

well .. TSX bullets aren't drilled to make that, they are formed -- drilling them would reduce weight retension

i HAVE cut off 500gr .475 TSX to 350 grains .. trust me, unless you are not wanting them to exit a gallon water jug, they don't need to expand faster

On the other hand , the match bullets with hollow point are not designed to expand ! The ideal match bullet has a long sharply pointed shape . That's difficult to make and fragile - bend the tip and you lose accuracy.
The idea was invented by Lapua .A 223 Lapua match doesn't blow up a 'chucks head ,only punches a hole through ! rotflmo

Ah, I knew someone had thought of this, so I guess I will stay my 570g A-Frames and develop a nice load for them. If only they had a solid base ... Smiler

I did that exact same thing and it turned out to be the favorite Bullet in my 505/510
