I am building a new 500 AR on a Ruger action; Any ideas on what would be a good, heavy enough, laminate stock? I have a B&C on my present rifle, too light, and I tried the Hogue, which is a good stock, but varminter configuration. It will serve, but would like a laminate for my next build. ANy suggestions?

I started with one like this on my 416 Taylor I built a couple years ago, of course I had to rework it a little here and there and added ebony tip and cap to it. Turned out ok for the price? http://www.boydsgunstocks.com/...m?pid=28008&cat=1223 Extreme Custom Gunsmithing LLC, ecg@wheatstate.com

My 500 AccRel Nyati currently has the Hogue overmolded stock but I have a Boyd's laminate waiting for it this summer. If you have the money, the Accurate Innovations sure look nice. PS: make sure that you get the 1/4" parallel freebore version for the 500. If you use McGowen Barrels, they have our "500 AccRel Nyati" reamer. Make sure that you specify "Nyati," and they will use that reamer and stamp it on the barrel. Also, McGowen can cut the barrel with a CZ profile, with a large island for the the rear barrel sight and an under island for cutting a barrel recoil piece. Then separately epoxy the receiver lug and the barrel lug. +-+-+-+-+-+-+ "A well-rounded hunting battery might include: 500 AccRel Nyati, 416 Rigby or 416 Ruger, 375Ruger or 338WM, 308 or 270, 243, 223" -- Conserving creation, hunting the harvest.

I think the long throat version provides a greater safety margin during load development, hot weather, etc. And since I have not yet converted to brass bullets, I see no disadvantages especially at the shorter ranges these guns are used at.
