Sumbuddy who know? Actual gross water capacity of a specific make of brass? Once-fired Jamison 500 Jeffery in particular would be interesting. Pretty please.

ScottS, Thanks, but ... Like wow! Is that all? Bertram: 152.5 (+/-1.5) Horneber: 155.0 (+/- 1.0) That means that my 500 Mbogo is interchangeable with 500 Jeffery for load data using that brass. At 2.990" brass length, the 500 Mbogo has a gross case capacity of 155.3 grains of water, with the Quality Cartridge brass. AccuLoad3.04 gave a spec of 160.2 grains H20 for the 500 Jeffery. QuickLOAD V.3.5 gave 165.26 grains H20 gross for 500 Jeffery. No brass make specified. I only own 4 pieces of dummied-up Bertram 500 Jeffery brass, unfired. It will be interesting to see what the Jamison brass holds. Sumbuddy who know? Pretty please with sugar on top?

Here is how it is done: 1. Take a once fired 500 Jeffery case made by Jamison International, with spent primer in place, and weigh it on a digital scale, standing up right on the scale. This weight (in grains) = X 2. Use a 10 to 20 CC syringe full of tap water to dribble water into the case, until almost full. 3. Next, use a smaller syringe full of water with needle on it to drip smaller drops of water into the case until the meniscus changes from concave to flat. Have a bright overhead or side light source to illuminate the meniscus as you dribble it flat. If you are over 50, wear your reading glasses, unless you have the gift of nearsightedness, if so, take your bifocals off to see better up close. 4. Weigh the case full of water on the digital where it stands. Record this weight in grains as Y. 5. The gross water capacity of the case = Z, where Y - X = Z Do that to 5 cases and average it. That is a pretty good measurement of gross case capacity. Sumbuddy who know Jamison 500 Jeffery "Z"?

RIP, I apologize those were fully resized. My 500 Jeffery Improved fired cases are only about 1.5 gr larger in case volume than fully resized. My 500 A2 is only about a grain larger. I guess I have fairly tight chambers, eh?

500 AHR are all bertam's, if they are spec. One wonders why someone would be coy about stating that they own a 500 AHR? I posted bertam and hornber 500 jeffe case capacities a couple years ago .. opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? So I have badmouthed the 500 Jeffery enough that the 500 Jeffery boys with Jamison brass are ashamed to reveal the Jamison case capacity? How about just a clue for me? Is the Jamison brass heavier, thicker, and of less capacity than the Bertram? Is the 500 Mbogo bigger in case capacity than the 500 Jeffery with Jamison brass?
