I need some help from my AR brothers!

I have a fellow leaving in March for Elephant. He is taking a 500 MDM and needs some loads
developed for his rifle. He is requesting quite a bit of ammo and I am very short of what is needed for brass.

Currently 375 RUM brass is on backorder, I have 1000 pieces ordered, but keeps getting put off. I am short 200 pieces of brass.

If anyone has any sort or any amount of 375 RUM brass that you can part with and not put you in a bind I would love to have it. I will either pay for it or replace it when mine comes in, or any arrangement that suits your best interests. Any amount will help tremendously, and will be much appreciated.

I have even less time than March to get this all sorted out, actually needs to be ready, rifle, sights, ammo, POI with 450/500 #13s and 450 North Forks all by mid Feb latest. Lots to do!

Thanks, ahead of time
Michael

I have 100 pieces of once-fired .375RUM brass.
It was once the Remington factory load with 300-grain Swift A-Frame that I shot at the range and hunted deer with.
Still has the original brass-colored, indented Remington primers in it, so I know I have not reloaded it.
I never use Remington primers in handloads.

If suitable, say "yes" and I will send it to you, no charge, in a couple of H-50 MTM Case-Gard boxes, and I still owe you more. tu2

Will only the 375 RUM work, not the 300?

Yes, so far only 375 RUM for proper brass. I have not been able to figure out how to either
blow 300 RUM or mechanically do it, the necks and shoulder always split 100% of the time. Just too
far to go from .308 to .500. I did the other week blow some 338 RUM out perfectly, but it comes in a tad short is all. While I personally would use 338 RUM, I really don't want someone else to do so unless they have a bit of experience. Nor send someone out with it.

This guy is elephant bound in March--Elephant X10. So I want everything to be perfect.

RIP

Thanks buddy, you have for sure come to the rescue on this one! No rush, anytime this week would be fine, I can't start working the brass until next week anyway.

Happy New Year to you and yours as well!

Michael

Midway had been posting a date it would be available and when that date came around they would change it to a few weeks later.

Now they are showing no date at all. Not a good sign!

Going to be tough to shoot my 470 AccRel, when its done, without brass. Good think is it will be at least a month before the dies are done.

Jeffe has you ever made it from 338 RUM brass?

MM - welcome - happy new year.

npd - you can make it out of 338, 300, and 404 AMERICAN MADE brass -- requires annealing and fireforming if made from smaller than 375

I think I will just wait and see if Midway gets the brass in. I will talk to them and Remington when i go to SCI in Reno. My dies are still a ways out before they will have them done.

Now what to do with the MRC PH action I just picked up..........

Its not unusual for Rem or others to have brass shortages like this. Rather common, they set up, make a run of several 100 thousand or so, and wait till that runs out, and make a plan for another run. I remember at least a couple of times in the past 416 Remington was exactly the same. Not long ago there was no 300 RUM out there, now there is plenty. So once Remington gets the 375 RUM scheduled there will be plenty on hand then. Its just a matter of the next month or so, like you I am waiting on Midway too, but I just had this unscheduled issue with trying to get this fellow ready for a big elephant hunt he has coming up, he is taking 10 elephants, with one of my 500 MDMs, and my supply of brass has dried up. Between Andrew and Brent using up so much of what I had in stock! HEH............. Its coming, just hold on. But I can tell you I have a 1000 on backorder, when it comes in, I am getting another 1000 as well, at least.

Thanks to everyone, I knew I could count on my pals here to help me get through, and sure enough, all come to the rescue.
I think now with RIP, Jeffe, and Ed, in addition to what I have, I will have enough to get him going. THanks again!
Michael

Michael,
I believe I have almost a hundred rounds of .338 UM if that would help. I don't own one anymore. If It will, let me know and I will bring it to Dallas.
