Folks need some help. Am in search for reduced loads (for practice) with my 375 HH and 458 Lott. Have cooked up some for my 375HH using AA 5744 and Hornady 225grain Spire points. Any help with 375HH loads using Hornady or Barnes 300 grain would be appreciated. Same for 458Lott in 500 grain.

Hello, Pull up Hodgdon powder co's web site and you will find a very complete listing of most any load you can think of for the cartridges you are after. Glad to see Hodgdon do this for lots of data for all to share and no need to go buy a book every so often other than for the technical data found in the manuals. Good luck.

Are you looking for light plinking loads to practise with? If so use 26-36 grains of AA5744 with a dacron filler on top of the powder for the 375 H&H. Use 34.5-40.5 grs of AA5744 in the 458 with a dacron filler. The velocity for the 375 H&H should run from 1330-1725 fps and the 458 Load should run from 1425- 1623 fps. Highly recommend using the dacron fller on top to keep the powder at the bottom of the case. These loads were found in the Lyman #48 Manual. I personally use 28 grs of Unique with the 300 & 350 Barnes X's in the 416 Rigby for plinking loads, works great! Don't forget about the dacron filler, good luck and shooting! Focus on the leading edge!

If you want reduced loads for the 458 lott, use 350 gr bullets. Recoil is dramatically reduced. I used 76-80 gr of RL-7 for 2400-2500 fps, recoil is on par with the 375 H&H. __________________________________________________ The AR series of rounds, ridding the world of 7mm rem mags, one gun at a time.

Shikaribabu: IMR has published load date for SR4759 for the 375 H&H - a great reduced-load powder that has worked well for me in several cartridges. The load data is available on the Hodgdon web site that dsiteman referred to: http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp Thanks, Dad, for taking me into the Great Outdoors.

Why not just shoot your 06. same thing... I believe in shooting full house loads in my big bores, as one needs to immune himself of their recoil and the old stuff about reduced loads helping one adapt is hooey IMO... If I wanted to be able to shoot a 600 Nitro, then I would practice with a 700 Nitro, then when I shot my 600 I would say, "now thats a pussy cat to shoot"...Makes since to me.
