I have good accuracy with 34.1 grains of IMR 4198 behind a 405grain bullet. This is very close to the mild trap-door loads and doesn't kick much. Jeff's load will be lighter, though.

10 to 15 grains of Unique under a 405gr cast bullet. 15grs being the top end of the spectrum. My wife will shoot these loads and she doesn't care much for recoil at all.
Pick up Lyman's cast bullet reloading manual for more data.

IAW with the old Lyman Cast Manual, find a 366 gr (or so) cast projie and stuff it in front of 30 (1090 fps) to 39.0 (1403 fps) of IMR 3031 and will treat ya well. 420 grainer shows 34. (1167 fps) to 38.5 (1352 fps). 10- 15 grains of Unique has my vote, though I am now testing the 3031 loading.
