nice as in pretty boy gun, or too much dinero? 16g is fairly cheap, especially for a 470 double I would think. BTW I still cant afford it.

Way too much for a converted shotgun action. For that much you can get a real double rifle. The shotgun actions don't hold up to rifle pressures. Just ask Butch.

Could yu afford it a $6k? Assuming it doesn 't blow your hand off, of course.

Who is Norsman and how do they make their rifles? On the side of the barrel it looks like it says Havre, MT.

There was also a Norsman .600 NE for sale for 21K recently.

Jeffe

What action are you using as a base for your .550 Flanged project?

Jeffe,

Are you making a double rifle?

That Norsman bolt rifle looks like it is built on a Granite Mountain Mag Mauser action with Joe Smithson's QD scope rings.

Does Norsman Arms have a website?

Is that bolt gun a 2 piece? It looks like it comes apart there on the forend.

I can't really see a release mechanism though, unless it's that protruding button near the magazine.

Ben,

The rifle would come apart something like this:

Most takedowns of this type have a button system underneith in front of the magazine. And apparently they work very well, with no practical lose of zero when taken down and then put together again.

Biggestgun, I take it you are referring to Searcy's use of Browning BSS actions on his early rifles. I never heard of problems, could you educate me a bit on it, as I am considering buying one of these early versions.

I believe the rifle in the picture was built for Brig Gen Boddington on a Granite Mountain Arms action.
