Bitteroot,

That is one outstanding rifle! AHR seems to get better and offer more features with every rifle you build.

Is this particular brake as efficient as the larger bell shaped brake on the 585 AHR or the 600 OK?

I humbly suggest that the "My dog is bigger than your dog" contest has a winner for the first quarter of 2008.

I am trying to decide whether to get a 600 OK or just run up to this guy...thoughts/suggestions anyone?

We now only need to get Ed and the Kid or Big Doggy 700 to make the trip to the March shoot, and preach to the choir!

Rich- I will have my second 700H done in few
days on a Savage 210.It'll be with laminated
thumbhole stock, long barrel. Will shoot
same velocities as first one in Enfield, 825gr at 2500, 1000gr over 2200. The competition(MRC) hurry up so I can do the third,
and go full pressures.

I like what Bitterroot is doing taking time to talk
on the net with big bore nuts. If I win lottery
I'd get on of the beautiful ones too. Ed

Oh, yes I saw that thread. I was hoping he was talking about our neck of the woods. Don't think I could get away from the bench for that trip though I would love to. I guess I need to sponsor one here in Montana this late spring or summer. We could make a big bore gopher shoot out of it.

A chance to shoot the rifles you build? You'd have to raffle tickets, to limit the number of shooters, so you didn't have too many people showing up!!!

No muzzle brakes. That ought to keep out the riff-raff. Really, the more the merrier. I'm starting to think seriously about it. The best trout fishing here too; right out the back door.

OK, ya got me. Actually, I am excited and thrilled that Wayne and Ed are concentrating on my 23" barrel 600 OK Big Grin In fact, I sent a photo I took of a cartridge lineup for the rifles that will (I hope) be coming on our Spring camping trip attended by a gaggle of nephews and cousins.

While I am waiting for the 600, I will be hooking this up to my Hummer and bringing it home. Hope it fits in the safe:

1-Bore = 1.67" bore and 7000 Grain slug!!

If you have a Sasquatch for a gun bearer, a tripod to mount it for firing, and a dinosaur for a target....sure no problem. Easy to make......not so easy to shoot.

I see your point Wink
What is the specs for the 2-Bore?
You would still need to be HULK to drag it around Afrika.

I want a 22" barrel on my 2 Bore and keep the weight down to 25 pds, shouldnt be a problem with a single shot.I want XXXX Wood and a 40X Leupold on it!(just kidding on the scope!) Smiler...Should be maybe 36" long on the falling block action?Nice and handy for the Longrass and/or Alders! Name already picked out....Either "Colossus" or "Giaganticus"!!

Quick-change barrels so you can have a 16" barrel if you want to knock yourself down! A 30" smoothbore for a half pound load of 0000 buck.

Question:
What is the biggest calibre that you can get a permit for in the states.
When does it become Canon, in Denmark largest hunting weapons permit is <20mm.

Also
Can you fly with one of those BIG bores?

Cheers,

André

We don't need permits for guns in the USA unless you are planning to carry it concealed on your person.

There are some exceptions which apply to large (over 50 caliber) rifles. You'll need a destructive device exemption letter from the BATFE if the rifle is determined to be a non-sporting device. No destructive device - no exemption required.

I have the opinion letter(s) for the 2-Bore.

There may be state or local laws which prevent hunting with varoius types of rifles. Some areas may not allow hunting with rifles at all. (close to urban areas)

Flying with the rifle isn't a problem but sometimes the ammo may be. Ship the ammo ahead in quantity is a better idea. This is best with large caliber since there are weight restrictions on ammo with the airlines which wouldn't allow you to take much anyway.
