There is a seller on Gunbroker, called "cyberrifles". He is listing: A 500 Jeffrey on Rem 30 action by Jeffrey A 505 Gibbs Original 404 Jeff by Jeffrey Original WR 425 by WR A bunch of single and double square bridge Mauser rifles. Doubles rifles. Prices are steep, but not crazy considering the goods. He is located in Kali. Looking at his auctions are not for the faint of heart, or short of wallet (I'm both), but he is selling some great stuff. Who is this guy???? I found it interresting that the "original 500 Jefferys was "sight regulated" with RL-15 and so stamped on the barrel.... I'm under the impression that the gun should be older than the relatively new powder RL-15, but perhaps their is an explanation for this and I suspect some of our more astute members on old English guns might be able to shed some light on this subject, would anyone care to explain this to me, else my suspecious mind runneth amuck ![[Confused]](images/icons/confused.gif){kind=icon} . | |||

George, The photo is from T. Carrs post above and the photos clearly show RL-110-535 on the barrel as the rec load. | |||

There are 2 different Jefferys. W. J. Jeffery & Co. Ltd This is the 'main' Jeffery from St. James Street London. Now owned by Paul Roberts. W. Jeffery and Son. These guys are in So.Cal. and use this name. That is who made this rifle. Their was a company in Calcutta named W. Jeffery and Son that sold rifles of that name in India. I believe a cousin of the original Jeffery that we normally think of. These were trade rifles, much like Manton. You see these rifles in Australia and there is a definite difference in the quality between an 'English' Jeffery and an 'Indian' Jeffery. | |||

I could go to the bank, speak the right words, and have a cashiers check for that .425 WR, but am so unable to afford it it isn't funny. There will come a day though and hopefully in the not too far future. | |||

I was under the impression that even the W J Jeffery & Co. was a bit of a 'trade gun'. I was told that this firm did not actually make guns just sell them, much like Army and Navy or Sears & Roebuck. Definitely not a Hollands, Purdey, Boss, Rigby, etc, etc. Please correct me if I am wrong. | |||
