Tom--you can get good cast bullets from Marshall at Beartoothe bullets http://www.beartoothbullets.com/bulletselect/index.htm

Their 1040grn has a huge meplat and are reasonably priced and very hard. They penetrate unbelievably. I cast these myself from a custom mold.

Thanks Guys...I am not a cast bullet guy,so I must ask,how fast can I push them without leading to bad?...or,can they be cast extra hard to alleviate that problem? Is there a coating that stops that ?

I have shot wheel weights plus 1% tin over 2200fps in my 550 with no leading. The keys are a hard alloy and a real good lube.

I have taken these Beartoothe LBT's to 2000 fps w/o any leading as long as I had a base wad under the bullet to prevent burn off. They pentrated 4' of wet newspaper & out the back of my bullet box shocker Below from L-R is my 700gr plinker & 800 gr Flat nose (both WW's) then the Kodiak 900grn, the Beartoothe 1040gr LBT and last, AHR's 800gr mono X-pander

1040'S! Thats in 700AHR range now...One of them at 2000fps should do the trick! I just wish we had bigger animals on this planet to dispose of!What have you been able to push these up to out of your 600?
