We're having a big bore shoot this Saturday morning at the Bayou Rifles Gun Club in Houston. All the AR group is invited and you're welcome to bring friends.

We'll get started about 8 AM and have BBQ and soft drinks for lunch. I promise it will be a howling good time.

There's no charge for AR participants but it would be nice if everyone would bring ice, duct tape and plywood.

SEE YA'LL THERE!

Hey Forrest,
It seems like big bore shoots are becoming a bit popular. I am always looking for new ideas on courses of fire, targets and such for the matches I run. I like to add new stuff. Can you post your course of fire? thanks, Dan

Guess I need to watch the Weather Channel.

So you're afraid of a little rain?

I had a Big Bore shoot last winter: 10 degrees and 20mph wind. Only one guy showed up so he had to shoot all by hiself. But he Won.

Dan, the rain is not problem. The 'cane strengh winds are 115 miles each side of the center. TS winds are 245 miles each side.

Forrest, are we shooting into the wind, across it, or down wind. How much windage is needed for a 85 mph cross wind. with a 500gr @ 2250fps?

I hope we are not going to shoot into the wind, as it will be tough enough to stand up and take some heavy recoil, too. Not to mention velocity loss.

See you there, lol

Keith

After the shoot we can all swing by my house for drinks. We will have finished remodeling by then in the classic "rubble" style. BYOB, chair, roof, et al.

Harry,
Glad you chose the rumble style, as it will compliment the subdivision, which will have been reworked into the classic "debris field" sometime this weekend.

You'll certainly be able to get real world data on wind drift of 535gr. bullets. Big Grin

Keep safe, gentlemen!

Forrest,

Thanks for arranging this. I may be a few minutes late since a headwind is expected to slow down my progress. I will be in the gray truck with the red flag with a black square in the center on my radio aerial.

So how did the shoot go? Were the windage tests successful? Got power here last night and then found out the pump for the water well burned up. Need any firewood anyone? Hope everyone is OK. Rodney.

Now is that 14" adjustment for 85mph cross wind at 50yards, 100yards? This is good data. Rodney.

Finally got power back on last Thursday 9/18 evening. Glad my little 6500 Onan kept the refrigerators and freezer going. Only sustained limb damage and a fence blown down.
By next year, we will have a standby NG fueled generator at the house!

There are still parts of Houston without power today. Galveston is allowing some residents back on the island to stay starting this morning. The Boliver area looks like most of the homes were just washed away. Pilings and all!

Hope all of you survived!
