Every now and then...

Idaho SharpshooterEvery now and then...
even I can find a deal at a gunshow. Boise had theirs today, and tomorrow. Bought a CZ 550 in 416 Rigby, 97 Norma cases, a box of federals with 8 empty cases in it, and a Leupold scope for $675!! Oh yeah, dies too. The guy also had a genuine pre-war double squarte bridge Magnum Mauser action and ugly monte carlo stock (no barrel) asked $750. Yeah, I got it too...now I am completely broke...but what I nice day I had at the show!!!!!
I have to run over again tomorrow, there was a very clean Remington M30 Express that somebody had at a good starting price. It would make a very nice 30 Holland Super and had a bright, shiny, pit free bore.
What a weekend!

Nothing like finding good deals at a gun show, spending all your $$$, and then remembering you need to go back the next day. Then you have to go scrounge up more $$ that really should be spent on something else. When you get home the second day you have to figure out how to convince your wife that the third gun you bought really is needed more than next months house payment. Gosh, I thought I was the only guy like that!!

RIPRich,
You stole those guys blind. Way to go! I could not possibly have passed up deals like that either.

Idaho Sharpshooterhey RIP,
I let the guy make HIS! price on both rifles.
ForrestB; I appreciate your generous offer to bail me out...but I figure if I overspend a little, then I just need to suffer for my impetuousness!! Maybe I'll learn my lesson one of these years!
Now for the tough question: what to build on the Mauser DSB action. The stock is a clunker monte carlo stock that will only be used to testfire whatever I do build.

You haven't heard my offer yet. Don't make me call your wife with my offer.

.366torqueDone good!

So your graduation project is?
13 September 2006, 11:04
Idaho Sharpshooter.366Torque,
I am not to that point yet. I spent part of yesterday milling the quarter-rib, now we wait on Brownells for the 3-leaf NECG sight. Got the Wisner box fit; man there's something special about a onepiece milled magazine box, trigger guard and floor plate. Eye candy indeed. Made a brake, as soon as JeffP Emials me those pics I will send them to Jeffe to post. It is coming along nicely, mostly graduation is cutting a stock out and inlettting it, etc. The toughest part of the metalwork left is the barrel lug and some final action tweaking. The extracator is binding just a touch. I hope to just work the bolt a couple thousand times and fix that.
